Every country boasts of many hospitals that provide quality health care treatment to its patients. But you can’t rate every hospital as good as there are also many health care centers who have stated their shop just for monetary benefits. So before utilizing the services of any hospital one should go through following given points:- 1.Hospital Mortality Index: – It is an administrative tool to determine the performance of the hospital. This is done by evaluating the ability of the concerned hospital to keep their patients alive. Hospital mortality index is also used by insurance agencies to make decision about which hospital to include in their network. As no body wants to loose their money, that’s why these insurance companies generally provide their services in some of the best hospitals and health care centers. 2.A positive reputation among doctors: – Most of the doctors know about the reality behind any big named hospital. And they would never put at stake their respect at stake while suggesting anybody to go for a particular hospital. So it’s always better to consult any good doctor before making the final decision. 3.Infrastructure of the Hospital: – Check that the hospital is equipped with all the necessary facilities. Look around at whole hospital and check if all their facilities are in running condition or not. 4.Resident doctors: – It’s a fact that most of the hospitals utilize the services of senior visiting doctors. But these hospitals will also have resident doctors who work under some senior doctors and will take care of you in absence of these senior visiting doctors. So at the time of emergency these resident doctors are the immediate source of help which you will receive. So it becomes very important that you make yourself confident by going through their qualifications details. 5.Availability of advanced medical equipments: – Medical equipments come at a huge price cost. So no ordinary health care center can afford them if they don’t have the required knowledge, skill and expertise to use them. That’s why it’s advisable to check this factor by visiting the operation theatre and other important areas of the hospital. 6.Hospital’s experience in certain specialties: – Every hospital doesn’t specialize in all kind of human disease and issues. So consult with any concerned specialist before making your move. 7.The quality and ratio of nursing staff: – Check that the number of staff working in any particular hospital are adequate enough or not. Also enquire about their credentials and experience because they are the only one who will be taking care of you in the hospital. Before making the final choice, it’s better to go to the concerned hospital and self asses the hospital on these parameters. You can even consult your friends to get enough information about the hospitals.

One of the things I worry about when a foreign patient comes to town is accommodation.
Singapore offers a wide variety of accommodation types to suit different budgets, needs and preferences. These range from budget and boutique hotels, to 6 stars hotels and fully furnished serviced apartments in good locations.
Despite these choices, it is sometimes a challenge to find the right combination that pleases a fussy patient.
However this problem may be alleviated when a new integrated hospital complex is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2010.
This 19 storey Mediplex comprises a medical centre with specialist suites, hospital, and a hotel. This concept is believed to be the first in Asia and the objective is to capture a big slice of the estimated S$100 billion medical tourism market.
The medical centre has 189 consultation suites to house a wide spectrum of medical specialists. The hospital next door has 11 operating theatres, three day surgery units with 60 attached beds, an intensive care unit with 23 beds, radiotherapy unit, clinical laboratories and a full-service pharmacy.
Connected to the hospital is the hotel and guests have a choice of standard hotel rooms, serviced apartments and villas. All accommodations feature large bathrooms with rain showers, bay windows presenting floor to ceiling view.
The hotel is designed to offer a lush tropical garden ambience, with large spas, gymnasiums, six pools, ballroom, banquet hall, seminar and conference rooms, and a floor dedicated to retail food and beverage outlets.
A patient can check into the hotel in the morning and walks over to the medical centre to consult the doctor. Then he goes for lunch in one of the many restaurants and proceeds to do some investigative tests in the afternoon. He returns to the hotel a few steps away, does some window shopping in the evening after which he has the pleasure of a good massage in the spa. The next day he goes to the hospital next door for surgery and returns to the hotel to recuperate. All these activities are done in the same medical complex without leaving the building.
Family members and companions can stay in the same hotel, and enjoy the comfort and convenience of world-class facilities and at the same time provide emotional and physical support to the patient. This is healthcare and wellness at its best.
I am eagerly looking forward to the pleasure of showing this new integrated medical complex to my next patient.Filed under: Hospitals & Clinics Comments Off on Integrated Hospital Complex — A New Concept In Medical Tourism
Food within hospitals has for centuries played an important part in healing and recovery. Today, catering systems can be highly advanced mobile units which allow staff to prepare and feed patients right by their beds although this was not always the case.
In fact, however dubious the medical practices, in medieval Europe the value of hospital food was well understood by practitioners. Hospitals at this time were rarely operated by secular members of society and instead were the mainstay of the church, with many doctors doubling as clerics and many of the support staff being monks. It was these monks that usually prepared meals for patients.
In other parts of the world hospital food also played an important role, in some Islamic countries chroniclers speak of food which would have been suitable for nobles and kings. Many historians have argued that the high quality of care in the secular hospitals that were built in urban areas were a considerable achievement with medieval Islamic society.
Within Europe in later centuries the function of hospitals and those offering the care also changed. This was particularly the case in the eighteenth and nineteenth century where the monastery hospitals began to be replaced by more professional hospitals run by the military. Once again hospital food remained and important element within the recovery process although most hospital diets consisted of bread, beef and beer, although the serving of alcohol did diminish in the latter stages of this period.
Throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries a greater understanding of the role that food played in healing was gained. Termed nutritional science hospitals now comprehended that there was a direct correlation between the food given to a patient and healing times and meals had to be carefully planned to ensure patients received all of the nutrients they needed.
Today hospital food is as important as ever although tight budgetary restraints and pressures on staff mean that hospitals are now looking for evermore advanced and efficient methods of food preparation which do not sacrifice taste, presentation or nutritional value.Filed under: Hospitals & Clinics Comments Off on The History of Hospital Food
The need for medical facility expansion continues. However, when adding on to an existing structure, there are two options: closing the entire building down or putting in dust containment systems. When working on a single room, a hospital containment cart is an option. This type of cart provides a portable solution to keep dust and particles from a small area from escaping to the larger area. This dust containment unit will pull larger amounts of air through the system with the finest filters catching the smallest particles possible. This kind of system allows construction in a tight place where patient health is important.
A proper hospital containment cart will work well in areas where minor construction and maintenance work happens. The cart should move easily in tight spaces. It should go into place and lock down to provide a stable containment area. These carts require a place to plug in and usually take no more than two minutes to setup. For those doing routine maintenance tasks, easy setup is essential. It will help them keep on going and get the work done quickly. Moreover, in the process they will keep the dust and particulates out of the air that patients and staff breathe.
A portable hospital containment cart must be portable and easy to setup. Wheeling into place, the user locks the unit down. The containment unit will move into place around the area of maintenance. After plugging it in, a simple switch will turn the unit on. That will start the negative air flow. The air goes into a special filtration unit that filters out microscopic particulates and dust. The clean air then goes into the general are outside the containment unit. The breakdown process is just as easy to do. Maintenance workers can get the job done without a great deal of hassle for anyone.
Hospitals and other medical buildings need to have a portable hospital containment cart on their premises. No building is maintenance or repair proof. Things will happen and the maintenance staff will need to access areas of the building. Having a cart on hand will make their jobs much easier. They can move it into place and do the work within a couple of minutes of arrival. That allows them to get the job done and get gone before they disrupt work and patients. Depending on the size of the facility, having more than one on hand might make sense.Filed under: Hospitals & Clinics Comments Off on Making Construction Safe in the Hospital and Other Medical Buildings
Finding the best Ayurvedic hospital in Bangalore might be difficult as many medical facilities now deal with conventional medicines. However in recent times alternative medicine has become increasingly popular. Genesis medical facility offers this treatment as part of its alternative medicine program.
This treatment is part of Indian traditions. It encompasses the balance of the three main elements, wind, fire and water, collectively called Doshas. When all the elements of the body are balanced you are in good health, but if anything goes out of balance health problems and diseases can occur. The body is comprised of 20 elements and each person is considered to be unique.
Doctors practicing this form of treatment at an Ayurvedic hospital in Bangalore will make use of different techniques to bring the patient”s body back into balance. Massage plays a big role, as this relaxes the mind and body and can also transfer energy from one part of the body to another.
Purifying the body is an important part of this treatment. This is called Panchakarma representing five methods of purifying the body. This will help to improve metabolism and digestion by purifying the entire body.
“Nasva: nose therapy
“Nirooha Vasti: herbal mixtures are used for this technique
“Sneha Vasi: herbal oils are used for this.
“Raktamokshana: blood letting is sometimes practiced by certain schools of Panchakarma.
An Ayurvedic hospital in Bangalore will also get the patient involved in yoga exercises and meditation. This is all part of the balance of mind and body. Yoga exercises will help the patient to discipline himself physically and get back a healthy overall balance in the body.
Certain exercises will strengthen the body and other disciplines will help disperse energy to different parts of the body. There are also some exercises that will help the patient to breathe better and control their breathing. This all helps to bring back balance of elements in the body and improve the way it functions.
Meditation helps the patient to relieve stress and relax the mind. Doctors at an Ayurvedic hospital in Bangalore will guide the patient to meditate in the correct way. Meditation also helps the person to have more control and discipline of the mind. If the mind is in control and stress free the patient will feel better and be in harmony with themselves.
This treatment needs skilled practitioners who are qualified in the different aspects of this alternative form of treating a patient. At Bangalore Genesis Hospital they have a professional team of physicians who understand this type of ayurvedic therapy.
These are all ingredients in finding the best Ayurvedic hospital in Bangalore. The facility is open all day every day and doctors are on call if you have any emergency. They also offer home visits and care from skilled nurses and physicians.Filed under: Hospitals & Clinics Comments Off on Best Ayurvedic Hospital In Bangalore
